Assessments of Contractors and Sub-contractors

Health and Safety remains the responsibility of the client far more often than clients and developers like to think. In particular it is important to have taken 'reasonable' steps to ensure that any contractors or sub contractors have adequate health and safety management processes.

Approach

We use a questionnaire AND interview approach...

Interviews

We 'eyeball' directors, owners and managers in face to face interviews to make an assessment of the work practices of the contractors and sub-contractors that you may rely on. We find this far more effective in assessing attitude and competency than simply circulating a questionnaire.

Assessment

We make our own subjective assessment which we then pass on as part of our report with a simple grading system of A to D for each contractor.

Examples

We have carried out these assessments for clients such as S&N Retail, Spirit Group, Chas Smith (Contractors) and delivered seminars to groups of major retailers such as J Sainsbury, Nationwide, LloydsTSB, Asda, NatWest and Royal Mail.

We believe that we should offer our best judgement to clients and not sit on the fence!
